Twickenham Stadium to open four new dining concepts

22/08/2018 - 07:00
Twickenham Stadium will open four new dining concepts in the newly built East Stand, which will accommodate 4,500 covers each match day during the Autumn Quilter series.

Open from 3 November, the restaurants will employ an additional 250 chefs to deliver high-quality food in addition to the purpose-built pastry kitchen that will see 10,000 hand-made deserts made on site on match dates, all of which the Rugby Football Union believes will elevate the fan experience.

Nils Braude, catering, conference and events director at Twickenham Stadium said: “With the new East Stand, we have set out to raise the bar. Each space has been designed to offer a completely different experience, from a lively street food experience to top-quality steak, with a range of table sizes and price points to suit all budgets and group sizes.

“In the East Wing we will have mixologists creating cocktails to order and a sommelier to provide advice on wine selections.”

Each of the new restaurants was designed with details that pay homage to rugby and the heritage of the stadium and all profits will be reinvested back into the game of ruby.

The four new dining concepts are:

The Gate Chop House where customers can enjoy a menu of modern, simple but exquisite chop-house food, complemented by fine wines and real ale with customers, colleagues, friends and family. The four-course menu will see wine and food matched with the opposition: think New Zealand lamb and a pinot noir.

The Lock, which is a multi-experiential facility, stretching the length of the East Stand, with both rugby and food at its core. With two flanks surrounding a central kitchen, the nature of the space provides a subtle link to players positions within a scrum. The Lock is a dual aspect allowing guests to take in the surrounding scenery of Twickenham and West London while also enjoying the incredible ad iconic pitch view.

The Rose Garden will have an informal rooftop feel and an electric atmosphere. It will open three hours pre-match and offer live music, hand-held street food and a range of complementary drinks, including real ales and draught Guinness.

The East Wing is the luxurious addition to Twickenham’s hospitality, starting with a concierge on arrival, champagne and cocktails prepared by mixologists will be available throughout, as are ales, draught lagers and premium spirits and wine.
