A Westminster Food & Nutrition Forum Keynote Seminar will take place next month, tackling the next steps for policy on high fat, sugar and salt foods - regulation, innovation and marketing.

Keynote speakers include Dr Alison Tedstone, deputy director & chief nutritionist, Diet and Obesity, Health Improvement, Public Health England and Geoff Ogle, chief executive, Food Standards Scotland

Also at the event will be Jenny Arthur, Leatherhead Food Research; Tim Baker, Charlton Manor Primary School, London; London Food Board; School Food Plan Alliance and National Child Measurement Programme; James Best, Committee of Advertising Practice; Phil Dalton, Sun Branding Solutions; Sara Stanner, British Nutrition Foundation and Jon Woolven, IGD

It will be chaired by Geraint Davies MP and Maggie Throup MP, member, Health Select Committee and chair, All-Party Parliamentary Group on Adult and Childhood Obesity

Delegates will discuss the wider regulatory environment and the impact of tighter new rules from the Committee of Advertising Practice on HFSS foods advertising in children’s non-broadcast media which have recently come into effect - with a contribution from James Best, chairman, Committee of Advertising Practice.

Further key areas for discussion include:

  •   Policy priorities for reducing HFSS foods - including the role of reformulation, innovation and how best to engage consumers
  •   The wider food and regulatory environment - including advertising regulation, nutritional information and labelling, local initiatives, and the out-of-home sector
