Abstract
A vending machine named an Ooft Kitchen that dispenses hot and healthy meals has been introduced at two West London hospitals.

Patients, staff and visitors at Mount Vernon Hospital and Hillingdon Hospital now have the option to get a cooked meal from a range of vegetarian, vegan and high protein dishes, any time of day or night, every day of the year.

Meals, which cost £3.50 and can be purchased from the machine using cash, contactless card or Apple Pay include, all-day breakfast, beef chilli con carne and chicken tikka masala.

The food is ordered using a touch-screen system, after which the machine takes one minute heating up in an integrated microwave oven before dispensing.

A spokesman for The Hillingdon Hospital NHS Foundation Trust said it ensures the meals are all naturally gluten free and suitable for coeliacs, using 100% natural ingredients and free from artificial flavours, colours and preservatives.
