Wensleydale Railway launches afternoon tea service
Abstract
The new Wensleydale Railway afternoon tea service has been launched in partnership with boutique café Upstairs At Institution at a ceremony attended by local MPs and councillors.

The 1913 built London and North Western Directors’ Saloon was recently acquired following a major restoration at the National Railway Museum in York. Its service departs from, and returns to, Bedale Station three days a week.

Nigel Park, general manager of the Wensleydale Railway, said: “We are delighted to have acquired the Saloon Car which adds a glamorous period piece to our services coupled with high-quality afternoon teas by Upstairs At Institution. The new service meets the demand for another great experience that we can now share with local supporters, visitors to the area and for corporate and private hire.”

The launch took place on June 16th with Richmondshire MP, Rishi Sunak; North Yorkshire County Council Leader, Cllr Carl Les; County Councillor Karin Sedgwick, Middle Dales division; and Welcome to Yorkshire CEO Sir Gary Verity, all in attendance (pictured).
