Abstract
Warwick Racecourse has replaced single-used plastic cups with an ‘environmentally responsible’ eco-cup, as of last week (21 November).

The new initiative enables visitors to reuse their cup ‘time and time again,’ and forms part of parent company, The Jockey Club’s, aim to become zero waste to landfill by 2020 and Warwick Town Council’s drive to be plastic free by 2020.

Green champion for Jockey Club Catering at Warwick Racecourse, Ryan Bronger, commented: “We do as much as we can to recycle all of our waste on-site, and we’ve been on the lookout for products to help reduce our waste.

“The new eco-cups will go some way in reducing that, as they are hard-waring and reusable.

Claiming the company ‘doesn’t want to put the onus on race-goers,’ he added: “most of the work goes on behind-the-scenes, working closely with waste suppliers to reduce single-use plastics”.

The new eco-cups are available at Warwick Racecourse’s now.
