Abstract
The Westminster Collection, which features a broad range of hospitality facilities in Westminster, is providing national diploma hospitality supervision students with vocational work experience as part of their annual TWC Showcase event.
The TWC Showcase has become an annual fixture for event planners and buyers looking for suitable venues and facilities in Westminster. Next year's event will be held at Central Hall Westminster from 4.30pm-7.30pm on Thursday 5th February, with a creative theme devised by the students at Westminster Kingsway College (WKC). The group of 12 second year students from WKC will be tasked with creating a selection of suitable hospitality themes for the showcase event that will actively reflect the Westminster Collection's members. The students will have the opportunity to present their ideas to the TWC showcase organising committee before the committee decided on the winning theme of 'Afternoon tea with the Westminster Collection'. The students will be developing this 'afternoon tea' theme further and managing the hospitality aspects of the event both beforehand and during the event itself including the menu, food and drink service and entertainment. Cllr Sarah Richardson, cabinet member for children's services at Westminster City Council, said: "This kind of partnership is brilliant for our young people as it gives them the opportunity to try out their new-found skills in a real business environment. I've no doubt the local companies and organisations involved will be keen to share their expertise and experience with the students so they'll benefit that way too." Weblink: www.westking.ac.uk
