Abstract
A competition to find the best veggie main courses from festive menus has launched and one will be crowned the winner of the Vegetarian Society’s Duel of the Dishes competition.

Caterers, restaurants and bars are being encouraged to enter and those that make it through the knockout battle will then be pitted against each other in a public vote.

John Soonaye from the Vegetarian Society said: "We're really looking forward to getting the contest underway and seeing which festive veggie main courses across the UK get the most votes.

“Duel of the Dishes is our way of highlighting how creative vegetarian catering in seasonal menus can be. I have no doubt that the winner will be a far cry from an afterthought of pasta with tomato sauce! It's time to stop the talking and get the taste buds tingling as we prepare to discover the Duel of the Dishes winner."

Festive Flavours - the Vegetarian Society's new Christmas recipe collection is available free of charge online at vegsoc.org/christmas.

The Vegetarian Society is a national charity that influences, inspires and supports people to embrace and maintain a vegetarian lifestyle. Being a vegetarian is a choice that is kinder to animals, to people and to our planet.

To enter caterers simply need to email christmas@vegsoc.org with the name of their fabulous festive veggie feast taken from their seasonal menu.
