Abstract
The University Caterers Organisation (TUCO) has announced the line-up of competitors for its annual skills competitions, returning to the University of Warwick on 26– 27 March.

The event will showcase a range of talents and skills within university hospitality.

Matthew White, chairman of TUCO said: “Every year we focus on developing the whole competition experience. The competitions are an excellent opportunity and learning experience for the industry to come together to share their knowledge and expertise. With the diverse range of emerging trends, I’m looking forward to seeing many interesting new food concepts.”

To promote diversity and variety, this year, two competitions are being introduced, a photography challenge and a grab & go challenge.

The photography challenge is perfect for the ‘Instagram savvy’ catering operation seeking ‘picture perfect’ food and drink.

The grab & go competition challenges caterers to deliver two plates of a hot savoury dish using a bread or dough-based carrier, along with two plates of an allergy free dessert. These dishes must be suitable for a university grab and go outlet.

In line with TUCO’s sustainability values, all competitors must use sustainable or disposable containers and wrappers.

The new challenges will run alongside TUCO’s established competitions including its bar skills competition, barista skills challenge, chefs’ challenge, cook & serve challenge and the Salon Culinaire.
