Abstract
Theatre Royal & Royal Concert Hall Nottingham have announced the appointment of CGC Event Caterers and Castle Rock, Nottingham-based brewery and pub chain, to co-run all of its bar and restaurant facilities.

Once re-opened in September, the two companies will begin work in the newly refurbished venues, including the rebranded bar area in the stalls level of the Theatre Royal, Yarn - now offering casual dining as well as a greater selection of beers and wine, as well as the Green Room restaurant and roof terrace.

Robert Sanderson, managing director of the Theatre Royal & Royal Concert Hall, said: “I’m absolutely delighted that we’ve attracted not one but two major partners/operators to work with us to deliver our new catering offer, with its greatly improved facilities for everyone to enjoy, not just those coming to shows here. The contract has been awarded to CGC Event Caterers, one of the UK’s leading live events caterers in partnership with Castle Rock, Nottingham’s foremost brewery and pub chain who will be bringing ‘real ale’ to the Theatre Royal and Royal Concert Hall for the very first time.

“As part of our Royal Transformation Project, the Green Room Restaurant has been transformed, gaining not just more space and a larger capacity but also bringing the Roof Terrace back into use, offering roof-top views across the City, together with an extraordinary new canopy making the whole area more weatherproof.

“The Theatre Royal & Royal Concert Hall have become hugely popular night-time destinations, attracting over half a million people a year from across the Midlands to their remarkable range of top quality shows and concerts.  Now we are creating a major new day-time destination for the City, open from early morning to late at night, for shoppers, passers-by, tourists, students, and (especially) for local and regional businesses who will be able to hire any one of a number of newly modernised rooms and spaces for meetings, presentations, training sessions and conferences, accommodating from 12 to 2,000 people.”

Director of business development of CGC Event Caterers, Tom Lynch, added: “The team at CGC Event Caterers are delighted to be awarded the contract to operate catering and hospitality services at Nottingham’s Theatre Royal & Royal Concert Hall. Our partnership with Castle Rock Brewery combines our international expertise in venues and events with their unrivalled knowledge and passion for craft beer, great pubs and Nottinghamshire hospitality. Together we have created an exciting new café bar concept, Yarn; a destination food & drink experience for theatre-goers and locals alike, right in the heart of the city.

“Our plans involve the introduction of new restaurant menus and a major enhancement of the food and drink proposition across the site. We will also launch new facilities and packages for corporate hospitality and conferencing as part of a stunning redevelopment of the onsite facilities. We all look forward to working with the fantastic team at the Theatre Royal & Royal Concert Hall and contributing to the continued success of these iconic venues.”

Castle Rock managing director, Colin Wilde said: “Forming a partnership with a business of the pedigree and calibre of CGC Event Caterers and to service the exciting new provision at the historic Theatre Royal all in our home city of Nottingham are both amazing opportunities for Castle Rock Brewery.  We are delighted to be able to contribute our own extensive experience into the partnership and confident that we will jointly deliver a first class facility to not only serve the existing clientele but also to reach out to a much wider audience made up of Nottinghamshire residents, students and visitors to the city.“
