Sunrise Senior Living UK appoints first Head of Nutrition and Hydration
Abstract
Care home operator Sunrise Senior Living has appointed its first head of Nutrition and Hydration.

Sophie Murray, an award-winning nutritionist, recently joined the Sunrise team to underline their commitment to providing exceptional food and nutritional care.

Murray said: “I am delighted to be joining a provider which has such a strong reputation for its catering services. Both Sunrise and I share the same passion for ensuring nutrition is right at the top of the agenda when it comes to care. I now can’t wait to meet the residents.”

In 2013 Murray won the NACC National Hydration Award, having worked closely with doctors and research scientists to raise awareness and provide staff training on matters of hydration. She has also worked alongside celebrity chef Rosemary Shrager to raise the profile of food provision in the care sector.

Christopher Dean, regional director of Dining and Procurement at Sunrise, said: “Nutrition and excellent food have always been a priority for Sunrise, and Sophie’s expertise will undoubtedly enhance the already high quality of nutritional care we are proud to offer. We are very excited to have Sophie on board and we are looking forward to working with her.”

Sunrise Senior Living was established in 1981 in Virginia, US and has since gone on to cater for 30,000 residents in the US, Canada and the UK. The UK branch of the company has 27 sites across the UK, accommodating around 2,400 residents.
