Success at festive food fair

19th Nov 2008 - 00:00
Abstract
Contract caterer Charlton House's Christmas food fair was a huge success last week with over 800 people attending the event to sample the Welsh delights on show.
There were 15 stands showcasing Welsh produce which included cheese, traditional sweets, patisserie, Welsh whisky and chutneys. Freedom Food also attended the event to help increase awareness about their farm assurance scheme dedicated to improving farm animal welfare. Scott Mason, Charlton House's on-site general manager and the brain behind the initiative, said:" It was a fantastic opportunity for people to meet the people who have grown, reared, pickled and made these fantastic food items. It really was a celebration of Welsh food, direct from the producers and in the magnificent setting of the Pierhead Building, overlooking Cardiff Bay." Mason and his team had a Christmas-themed menu available for visitors including hot, honey-glazed ham in ciabatta rolls, home-made turkey burgers, mince pies, Christmas cake and Stolen. The Minister of Rural Affairs, Elin Jones, sponsored the event along with support from many other Assembly Members. The event took place on 12 November at Pierhead Building at the National Assembly for Wales, Cardiff Bay.
