Springboard, the charity dedicated to helping young, unemployed and disadvantaged people achieve their potential through employment opportunities in the hospitality industry, has appointed Stephanie Wade as its director of Scotland.

Wade’s appointment has stemmed from the growth in the number of projects and activities Springboard has underway in Scotland. The appointment is a key role for Springboard to drive and develop its work in Scotland.  Wade joins Springboard from her post as sales and operations manager at The Tennent’s Training Academy in Glasgow.

Talking about her appointment, Wade commented: “I am delighted to be joining Springboard. I truly believe everyone deserves a chance to have a rewarding career, no matter what our education, age or circumstances.

“The role of my team and I will be to work with employers in the hospitality sector to help identify opportunities and match them with the abundance of talent and enthusiasm that emanates from the people we have graduating from our various programmes in Scotland.”

Graham Box, managing director, Sodexo, Scotland and Springboard chairman, Scotland, added: “Stephanie is joining Springboard Scotland at an exciting time and will be leading a substantial programme of work. Stephanie and her team will be ensuring that we’re fulfilling the charitable objectives which includes: supporting young people into worthwhile careers – particularly through substantive work in secondary schools – helping unemployed people into jobs and providing disadvantaged people with the development they need to overcome barriers to work and move into sustainable employment in hospitality and tourism.

“She will also be driving forward Springboard Scotland’s responsibilities for improving the appeal of the industry in line with the priorities within Scotland’s Skills Investment Plan for Tourism. We are delighted that Stephanie will be leading Springboard Scotland at this hugely important time.”

Anne Pierce, Springboard’s CEO, further endorsed Stephanie’s appointment by saying: “The selection panel were impressed with Stephanie’s infectious energy and enthusiasm as well as her track record of success. I’m confident that with Stephanie’s skills, our project across Scotland will go from strength to strength, helping more and more young and disadvantaged people find exciting futures through opportunities presented by the hospitality, tourism and leisure industry.”
