11th Jan 2011 - 00:00
Abstract
More than 600 Sodexo employees recently gathered at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge Hotel in London for the company's annual Star Awards ceremony.
In its 30th year, these awards recognise outstanding achievement by Sodexo staff, in all spheres of the company's activities. The winners included Donna Sharpe who beat over 40,000 employees to win the 2010 Employee of the Year Award. Sharpe, who works as a chef at Doncaster Deaf Trust, won the award for working tirelessly over the past year to provide great food and excellent service to a wide range of customers at the site, not least of all to very young children at the nursery. In addition, Andy Wilcox from Cheadle Hulme School was declared Chef of the Year, and the New Manager of the Year Award went to Rob Trewick, Sodexo Defence services manager, who was praised for his knowledge of his client and the way he embraced change. Other awards, hosted by television and radio presenter Gabby Logan, included the Chief Executive's Award, Continuous Improvement Award and Trainee Chef of the Year Award. The prize-giving was led by UK and Ireland chief executive, Aidan Connolly and corporate affairs director, Phil Hooper. Matt Dawson and chef Peter Gordon were also on hand to congratulate the winners.
