Abstract
More than 600 Sodexo employees recently gathered at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge Hotel in London for the company’s annual Star Awards ceremony.

The Star Awards has been held for over 30 years and recognises outstanding achievement by Sodexo staff, in all spheres of the company’s activities. The winners included Tosin Orukotan who beat over 35,000 employees to win the 2012 Employee of the Year Award.

Orukotan, who works as a hospitality assistant at Kings College, London, scooped the most sought after award for outstanding commitment to his work and for always giving 100%. He was recognised as a shining example of someone who goes the extra mile to deliver great service each and every day.

The coveted Alan Tilley Award went to Martin Reeves, a finance manager for corporate services who has worked for Sodexo for 30 years. Reeves was recognised for his loyalty, dedication and hard work.

Hosted by television and sports journalist Chris Hollins, the evening saw the prize-giving being led by UK and Ireland chief executive, Debbie White and corporate affairs director, Phil Hooper. Celebrity and former head at Gordon Ramsay’s Michelin starred restaurant at Claridge’s, Mark Sargeant was also on hand to congratulate the winners. Musical entertainment was provided by Mad Hen.

The awards reflected the diverse skills and range of Sodexo’s employees, to whom Debbie White paid tribute: “Events like this confirm the strength and depth of our organisation,” she said. “The talent and expertise of our teams make us stand out as the best.”
