Abstract
With four in ten young adults overweight or obese, according to new figures released by NHS Digital, doctors have said they represent a generation that risks dying at a younger age than their parents, according to a news report in the Daily Telegraph.

Nearly three million 16 to 24-year-olds weigh too much - a million more than two decades ago, the statistics reveal.

The Telegraph reports doctors fearing they could die younger than their parents, despite the many medical breakthroughs being made.

The figures from NHS Digital, show 39% of 16- to 24-year-olds are overweight or obese, up from 27% in 1993.

The figures suggest 2.9 million young adults have an unhealthy weight - compared with 1.8 million just over two decades ago.
