Abstract
Event contract caterers Rhubarb and Moving Venue have delivered an Olympic Games-themed menu, for a showcase event, SW7, hosted by the Science Museum, the Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A) and Natural History Museum.

Moving Venue by Smart celebrated the cuisine of former Olympic hosts, including London (with speciality dishes being served to celebrate the 2012 Olympic Games), Brazil and Japan for the 200 guests, with production accompanied by White Light’s projected animations and Afishal’s visual DJ Rig.

The menu contained Earl grey cured salmon with charcoal blinis, ‘Empadinha de Palmito’ palm heart, tomato and olive empadinha, and a Japanese pancake topped with shrimp, chill and filled with sweet cabbage.

Also included was fillet of beef feijoada carved with black beans and rice or Sashimi of tuna with sweet cure tuna, green papaya salad. For dessert, guests were offered passion fruit and mango Eton Mess with coconut meringues, mini doughnuts with dulce du leche and Sweet Sushi.

The Natural History Museum’s Darwin Centre and Courtyard was set as a Rio inspired carnival, with production by Event Concept and Veevers Carter. Rhubarb provided canapés and barbecues, cooking meat on fire bowls in front of guests, which were later used to toast coconut encrusted marshmallows and fruit. Drinks included champagne and cocktails offered in the John Madejski Garden.

Senior corporate events manager at the V&A, Rachel de Woolfson, said: “This year’s SW7 event has been a phenomenal success. We wanted to make sure the showcase returned with a bang, bigger and better than ever. The feedback from guests has been fantastic and we are pleased to have once again provide a highly memorable night for all involved.”
