Research finds eating roast Turkey as ‘greatest British Christmas Day tradition’
Abstract
According to new research by Churchill Insurance, eating roast Turkey was voted as the ‘greatest British Christmas Day tradition’ with 57% of the vote, ahead of mine pies (52%) and milled wine (42%).

Other food that made the top 20 were: Yorkshire puddings (36%), Christmas sandwiches (29%), yule log (28%), leaving a carrot for Rudolph and festive flavoured coffee (19%).

A spokesperson for Churchill Insurance, said: “It’s great to see that traditional activities like hanging a stocking still feature in Christmas celebrations alongside more modern traditions such as streaming Christmas specials and Yorkshire pudding on the lunch plate.”

Four in ten (43%) say they have created their own Christmas routine, while 27% admit that they still follow the format that they had when they were growing up.

No matter how you spend the festive period, being with family (77%) is considered the best thing about Christmas, according to the 2,000 Brits surveyed.
