Office workers eating the same lunch every day
Abstract
Millions of office workers are eating the same lunch every day due to a lack of inspiration and convenience, a new study has found.

Research commissioned by New Covent Garden Soup has found that 77% of workers have been eating the same sandwich or salad for the last nine months. 58% admitted they had eaten identical meals for as long as they can remember.

Food psychologist Dr Becky Spelman, said: “People tend to be much more willing to experiment with their main meal of the day.

“Breakfast and lunch are often meals that bring out our inner conservative. Eating the same thing every day means we risk not getting a wide enough array of nutrients, as well as simply being very monotonous.”

The poll of 2,000 adults revealed that the ham sandwich tops the list of most common repeat lunches, followed by cheese and chicken sandwiches, baguettes and a salad.

The top five reasons for having the same lunch were it’s easy, it’s cheap, habit, it’s healthy, and ‘I don’t know what else to have’.
