Abstract
The deadline for caterers to declare an interest in the new overseas contract for the Ministry of Defence’s food procurement services is Friday 8th July.

Head of defence food services Nigel Shepherd said: "The new contract, which begins on 1st October 2017, follows the final extension to the current Worldwide Food Supply Contract, currently held by Purple Foodservice Solutions.

"At the end of last year the MOD launched the Deployable Food Programme (DFP) to replace its previous procurement strategy, the Next Generation Food Project (NGFP).

"Under the DFP, the overseas and UK elements will be separated into two contracts, with responses for the overseas contract to be submitted to the Pre-Qualification Questioner (PQQ) by the end of this week, and UK contract submissions to follow in late August/early September."

The Port Agency contract will continue to be run by Navy Command as a separate operation.
