Abstract
Hospitality and catering buyer Lynx Purchasing has announced the appointment of two new directors of business development, to support its continued expansion plans.

Jeroen Homan – formerly national sales manager at Town and Country Fine Foods - and Tim Wehrle – national account manager at Direct Seafoods – are joining the company following “unprecedented demand as operators across the sector deal with the effects of rising prices on margins and profits” it said.

Purchasing managing director, Rachel Dobson, commented: "With inflation forecast to continue to rise sharply for the rest of the year and into 2018, more businesses than ever are recognising the value of working with a purchasing specialist.

"Jeroen and Tim bring a wealth of experience - both as hospitality operators and from the supplier side - and will enable us to increase the support we give to existing customers as well as helping us to open up new business."

With operational experience in hotels, pubs and restaurants, Wehrle said: "I understand exactly what operators are looking for in terms of value, as well as what suppliers have to get from any deal, and that experience will be invaluable in my new role with Lynx."

Homan, who has previously worked as an operator in contract catering as well as hotels and restaurants, added: "There are chefs working in the industry who have never experienced the challenge of inflation on the scale we're seeing now, as well as the fierce competition for customers in the current market, and our role is to help them understand the benefits that disciplined buying can deliver."
