Abstract
ISS Healthcare has been awarded a five-year contract with the Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals NHS Trust to provide their hotel services.

The new contract will incorporate the move into the new Royal. The hotel service provision will incorporate patient and retail catering, restaurant, coffee shops, healthcare cleaning, portering and help desk services.

The new contract marks the third time the Trust has selected ISS Healthcare and will start on 1st April 2016 and is for five years with an option to extend for up to a further two years.

Donna Brown, divisional director at ISS Healthcare, said: “This is the third time ISS have been awarded the Contract for the Royal. Given the rigorous tendering process the Trust adopts, this was by no means an easy achievement. For the 600 plus ISS staff employed in providing Hotel services to the Trust and its patients this award is particularly significant.”

The business also secured a contract with The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre NHS Foundation Trust to deliver portering, cleaning and inpatient ward catering services in a major new cancer hospital being developed on the same site as the Royal. The hospital is expected to open in 2019 and the contract would begin at that point.

The two NHS trusts worked together on procurement, although each will have a separate contract with ISS.  The 18-month project saw input from over 20 stakeholders including patient representatives, staff, and governors/shadow governors in both NHS organisations.

Fiona Jones, transforming cancer care project director at The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre, said: “The development of our new cancer hospital presents a fantastic opportunity to deliver even better care to patients.  Hotel services are an essential element in providing the best patient care and we are looking forward to working with ISS in the new hospital.”
