IRC reports rise in sales

21st Jan 2008 - 00:00
Abstract
The Individual Restaurant Company (IRC) has seen a 26% hike in sales in the December 2007 period.
This increase is excluding the sales from Bank Aldwych, which was disposed of in July last year for a profit of £1.3 million, and Zinc Birmingham which was closed in September 2007. The growth in sales was driven by the six new restaurant openings completed during the year. These comprised four Piccolino restaurants in Sheffield, West Didsbury, Iikley and Exchange Square, and two Bar & Grill restaurants in Liverpool and Tunbridge Wells. Stephen Walker, chief executive of IRC, said: "Whilst the current uncertain consumer environment leaves us with a more cautious outlook over the year ahead in line with other operators, we remain confident the broad appeal of both the Piccolino and Restaurant Bar & Grill concepts will continue to underpin a resilient performance from the Group over the longer term." The group plans to open seven new restaurants in the current year. Their preliminary results will be announced on 31 March.
