Abstract
IGD, the training and research charity operating in the food sector, has appointed Susan Barratt as chief executive as of 1 January.

Taking over from Joanne Denney-Finch (who stepped down in September), Barratt joins from Natures Way Foods where she has led the company as chief executive for over 10 years. This has seen her ‘double turnover’ and establish relationships with retailers and foodservice organisations alike.

She said: “I’m delighted to have been given the opportunity to lead IGD. Joanne Denney-Finch has left an impressive legacy on which to build.

“I am very much looking forward to working with both the IGD team and the industry, to help tackle challenges that the industry faces and build on existing opportunities”.

IGD president, Leendert Den Hollander, said: “I am very pleased that Susan has been appointed as IGD chief executive. Her experience across the food industry alongside a strong understanding of IGD and its work, will be robust foundations to build and grow (the organisation’s) contribution in the years ahead and will further reinforce its position at the heart of the industry.”

Incoming president Andrew Higginson added: “At a time of real challenges and opportunities for the food industry, Susan’s appointment as chief executive is excellent news.

“I look forward to working with her and seeing the impact that I am confident she will make.

“She brings strong commercial experience spanning the industry, and I am sure that her background in managing and developing retailer relationships, coupled with a strong manufacturing and foodservice background will be a real asset to IGD.”
