Abstract
The hospitality industry witnessed a 1.7% increase in job applications in July 2017 compared to the previous month, according to job site CV-Library.

The latest statistics also revealed that hospitality is amongst the top ten UK industries to have experienced an “above average” hike, which the site claims is largely due to “the fact that many companies have pushed up their pay packets.” With a 12.5% month-on-month salary increase, founder and managing director of CV-library, Lee Biggins, said: “It’s safe to say that money continues to be a key driver for candidates, and the increase in application rates is likely due to pay hikes across many of the nation’s key industries.

“Hospitality organisations are feeling more confident right now and with many having recently received their hiring budgets for the year ahead, now is the time to fight to offer the best possible packages in a bid to attract the top talent.”

In addition to the 1.7% applicant increase, CV-Library also said that the number of hospitality candidates registering their CV on the site has jumped by 8.6%.

Biggins concluded: “It’s extremely positive to see that candidate appetite has picked up over the last month, especially given that application rates were down in June as a result of General Election uncertainty. For hospitality organisations, this presents an exciting pool of talent to choose from, while candidates should be prepared to pull out all the stops if they want to stand out from the competition.”
