Abstract
Fresh RM, organisers of Hospitality at the NEC Birmingham from 24th–26th January, have announced that the Bocuse d'Or culinary event will be shown live on big screens above the show's La Parade des Chefs restaurant.
The screening, sponsored by Compass Group and CESA, will give visitors the chance to cheer on Hulstone, who has been strongly supported by the UK hospitality industry for this year's contest. Toby Wand, group event director at Fresh RM, said: "By showing Bocuse d'Or Hospitality 2011 is aiming to enhance the evident industry support and add value to the visitor experience. We know that people in the culinary world will really appreciate this late addition to the show. "There is a huge amount of interest in the Bocuse d'Or because it is such a prestigious event, particularly this year with Simon Hulstone competing. We wanted to ensure that visitors had the chance to view it live and show their support. "We hope this screening will provide the icing on the cake, particularly for chefs, of what promises to be an exciting and inspirational three days. We wish Simon all the very best in his efforts and we look forward to cheering him on with the rest of the industry from the NEC!" Hulstone, chef-proprietor of the Michelin-starred Elephant bar and restaurant in Torquay, Devon, is one of 24 chefs to have qualified for the finals of Bocuse d'Or. Hulstone said: "I am really looking forward to participating in Bocuse d'Or because it is the biggest culinary competition for individual competitors. I am delighted that visitors to Hospitality 2011 will have the opportunity to watch the action and cheer me and my commis chef on during this prestigious competition. "It is our aim to fly the flag for Britain's culinary reputation by getting the highest placing we can against some of the best international chefs in the business." Bocuse d'Or will be screened at the show on Wednesday 26th January.
