H&J wins St Paul's Cathedral deal

30th Oct 2008 - 00:00
Abstract
Catering company Harbour & Jones (H&J) has won a deal at St Paul's Cathedral to develop the menus in both of its restaurants.
H&J will be aiming to reflect the best of British produce. This will mean sourcing local, seasonal ingredients, and cooking them simply and beautifully. The café will be a showcase for traditional British baking serving up some homemade delights such as Wiltshire lardy cake, Chelsea buns and Yorkshire parkin. Award-winning architects Wells Mackereth will be working with H&J to refurbish the restaurant area and help them turn it into a destination within the Cathedral. The food offering in the eatery will include a two course set price lunch and a plate of the day with ingredients coming from nearby Borough and Spitalfields Markets. Mark McVay, managing director of St Paul's Cathedral Enterprises Ltd, commented on the win: "Harbour & Jones showed that they have incredible passion for food, for sustainable local sourcing and for environmental concerns and working within the community, all of which were factors that contributed to the success of their bid."
