HCA honours industry at annual forum
Abstract
The Hospital Caterers Association (HCA) has announced the winners of its national awards at their annual Leadership and Development forum.

Introduced for the first time this year was the HCA’s brand new 6C’s award category, which was taken on the night by Paul Coulson of Serco at East Kent Hospitals University Foundation Trust.

The 6C’s, represent care, compassion, competence, communication, courage and commitment and was awarded to the team at Serco for its success in professional collaboration and partnership working between clinical, dietetic and catering colleagues.

National chair Phil Shelley presented the awards on the night at the ACC Liverpool.

He said: “Every year the judging gets harder as the standard and volume of entries continue to rise. It was a spectacular night and we were particularly pleased to see so many of our peers coming together in collaboration with others to produce best in class catering services.”

The award winners are:

Caterer of the Year Award – sponsored by Hobart
Liz Hawkshaw, Catering Manager and Trent branch. Sheffield Teaching Hospital

Catering Service of the Year – sponsored by ER Moffat
Pamela Mailler: West of Scotland branch, Golden Jubilee Foundation Hospital

6C’s Award – sponsored by the HCA
Paul Coulson: London & South East, Serco/East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust
