Abstract
Championing food and drink businesses at the “cutting edge” of the industry, the 2019 Future Food Awards are now open for entry until 30 June.

With nine categories up for grabs, the contest celebrates, supports and offers opportunities for entrants, from small-scale producers to technology-driven innovators.

2019 categories include:

  • Young Producer
  • Newcomer
  • Mission-driven
  • Farm-to-fork
  • Food Innovation
  • Drink Innovation
  • Food Packaging
  • Technology
  • Impossible to Categorise

The Future Food Awards are a result of merging the New Producer Awards and The FoodTalk Awards, and are designed to “benefit and promote the companies at the heart of food and drink innovation and the industry at large.”

Co-founder Holly Shackleton (Speciality Food) said: “The food industry is a hugely exciting place to be right now, and I can’t wait to delve deeper into the world of innovation and new businesses thanks to the Future Food Awards.”

Fellow founder Sue Nelson (of the podcast The FoodTalk Show) added: “We want to encourage innovation across all categories and I’m so happy to be working with the team at Speciality Food. I can’t wait for the entries to arrive.”

Judges will then decide a winner from each category, who will go head-to-head in front of judges at foodie festival, Bread & Jam, to be named the ‘Supreme Champion’ of the Future Food Awards.

Bread & Jam founder Jason Gibb said: “It is an exciting year to be part of the Future Food Awards, as they are opening up to a larger field of inspiring, emerging challenger brands.

“I’m proud to be on the judging panel and offer winners such great exposure and support.”
