Funding secured in Derbyshire for new holiday hunger project
Abstract
Derbyshire County Council has given the green light to a new holiday hunger programme in Barrow Hill as part of a £2.3 million funding round to support local communities.

The council will provide £8,222 to provide a holiday hunger programme and additional activities aimed at children and parents.

The project will provide a breakfast and cold packed lunch to vulnerable children and provide activities such as games, reading clubs and outdoor pursuits.

Leader of Derbyshire County Council, Councillor Anne Western, said: "We set up the Community Priorities Programme so that local groups could be supported in getting their ideas off the ground or expanding what they have already started, bringing benefits to their communities and making a real difference.

A cooking skills class for 132 children at St George’s C of E School has also been given funding. It aims to inspire children to learn to cook and enjoy good food, giving them the confidence and skills they need to make healthier food choices.
