Abstract
In the week where Jeremy Corbyn ran someone over, we found some food facts that will leave you flat-footed.

Did you know microwaving is the best way to cook vegetables, as it results in the least amount of vitamin loss? Boiling results 35% of vitamin loss; steaming in 20% and microwaving in just 10%.

What’s the difference between gravy and jus? Both are made using meat juices, but gravy is thickened with a starch while a jus is simply reduced to condense it but remains clear and thinner.

Perhaps the best perk of being a celebrity is free burgers! Seriously, Burger King provides celebrities with a secret Burger King Crown Card meaning they can receive free food anytime they like. Known to have enjoyed the benefits are Robert Downey, Jr., George Lucas, Jay Leno, Jennifer Hudson, and Hugh Laurie. So if you’re not a celeb then make friends with one!

The biggest environmental disaster Hawaii has faced was not down to oil but black treacle. In 2013 a shipping company accidently spilled 233,000 tonnes of molasses into the harbour in Honolulu. It’s almost impossible to remove. It obliterated the oxygen content of the water, killed 25,000 fish and cost almost £2 million dollars worth of fines.

Commercially produced sandwiches in the UK use about 43,000 tons of chicken every year. We eat about six chicken sandwiches every second.
