Abstract
In the week where scientists discovered that chimpanzees recognise backsides the same way humans recognise faces, we found lots of great food facts.

Biscuit eating is a dangerous sport. A 2009 study revealed that 25 million people in Britain had been injured by biscuits. A lot of incidents occured when victims had been fishing for remnants of their biscuits in a scalding cup of tea. The most risky biscuit of all was The Custard Cream – so be careful if you've got a pack lurking in the cupboard.

Did you know that the earth has more than 80,000 species of edible plants… and 90 percent of the foods humans eat come from just 30 of these plants - yes, just 30!

Originally believed to be an English drink, eggnog is now widely associated with Christmas in the US. If you’re having any this year, however, you’d be well advised to go easy on the brown stuff. More than three teaspoons of nutmeg can cause hallucinations and your limbs to heat up. And then, the come down. This can include nausea, dizziness and difficulty urinating.

As well as being a highly nutritious food, peanut butter is handy around the house. Thanks to its lubricant qualities you can use it as a shaving gel - and the oils act as natural skin moisturizer.

Did you know it's possible to find out the gender of your bell pepper? If it's got four bumps on its bottom it's a female, which means its full of seeds, sweeter and better for eating raw, whilst a male has three bumps and is better to use for cooking with.

Scientists have discovered that the Rich Tea is the best biscuit for dunking. The Rich Tea can last a strong 20 seconds in hot tea, while ginger nuts only last a pathetic four seconds before collapsing.
