Abstract
The countdown is on to Chip Week 2015, which will run from February 16-22 and provides a platform to raise awareness of quality chip dishes in the catering sector.

The annual campaign, now in its 24th year, provides independent pubs, restaurants and foodservice outlets with the opportunity to drive sales and profitability from their potato offering, while encouraging consumers to celebrate the chip.

Berenice Brown, Chip Week campaign manager for Potato Council, said: “Whether you serve hand-cut, home-made, chunky wedges or skinny fries, taking part in Chip Week should be high on your agenda.

“It’s never too early to start planning and looking at ways your business can benefit. Creating celebratory chip menus, introducing timely promotions or holding charity events are just some of the ways in which to get involved and boost sales.”

Organisers will provide point-of-sale material and a range of chip-inspired dishes will be available for chefs and caterers looking to get behind the campaign. The recipes available include Spicy Tomato and Bean Stew with Garlic and Parsley Chips, Thai Turkey Burger with Sweetcorn Salsa and Chips, and Pork Schnitzel with Paprika and Mixed Herb Chips.

The Choice Chip Awards, which recognises and rewards the best chips in the business will also return for another year. Open to all independent pubs and restaurants in Great Britain, the competition offers a chance to build a buzz around chip menus as well as generating customer interest, local recognition, increased footfall and sales.

The Potato Council, a division of the Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board, funds Chip Week.
