Abstract
Santa Maria Foodservice, the spices and seasonings company has created an environmentally friendly packaging solution in the face of caterers’ appeal for suppliers to reduce plastic waste.

The spices company has produced a new FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified Tetra Packaging for its ‘Taste Packs’. The carton style box is produced with raw materials from renewable sources and will reduce the company’s plastic use by 140 tonnes per year - cutting its carbon footprint by a fifth and helping chefs achieve greener supply chains.

Marketing and Business Development Director at Santa Maria Foodservice, Steve Kent said: “The industry has reached a tipping point when it comes to excessive and unnecessary plastic packaging. We’ve been working on our new reduced plastic Taste Packs for more than three years. To have them launch at a time when there’s a real and genuine demand from chefs across foodservice is fantastic.”
