Abstract
Global foodservice company Sysco Corporation is set to acquire UK distributor, Kent Frozen Foods, upon approval from the Competition and Markets Authority.

With a recorded £47 million revenue for the year ended 31 December 2016, Ajoy Karna, Sysco senior vice president, said: “Kent Frozen Foods will complement Sysco’s other UK businesses perfectly,” including Brakes, Fresh Direct and M&J Seafood.

“Our businesses share many values, including a strong family heritage and customer-led culture, and will benefit from complementary strengths in product offering and geography.

“The management team at Kent Frozen Foods has done a fantastic job in building the business, which focuses heavily on independent customers, and makes it a perfect addition to our portfolio of businesses in the UK. We’re delighted that they and their loyal employees will be joining the Sysco family.”

Should the acquisition go ahead, Kent Frozen Foods will continue to operate as an independent entity with additional support from Sysco and the chance to devgelop “closer working relationships with its other UK and European businesses where appropriate.”

Kent Frozen Foods chief executive, Chris Beckley, added: “We are thrilled to be joining the Sysco family. For our business, our colleagues and customers, having the added benefit of support from the world’s largest foodservice company presents an exciting and positive time ahead for all of us.”
