Food waste conference to take place on 16 July

Abstract
The Westminster Food and Nutrition Forum's conference will take place on 16 July and focus on food waste reduction and new initiatives for reducing plastic packaging waste.

The Keynote speakers include Dr David Moon, head of business collaboration at Waste and Resources Action Programme and Ben Elliot, Food Surplus and Waste Champion.

Other speakers include Peter Andrews, head of sustainability policy at British Retail Consortium, Peter Baveystock, lead specialist clienting management at Wokingham Borough Council and Jamie Crummie, co-founder of Too Good To Go.

Further sessions will focus on priorities for developing food and drink packaging by increasing its recyclability and maintaining shelf life.

There will also be a session on reducing food waste by encouraging local collections, industry engagement and driving a behaviour change.

The government has set out plans to reduce food and plastic waste. There is a target to eliminate avoidable waste of all kinds by 2050.
