CROYDON WOMAN LANDS PRIZE IN GOURMET CHALLENGE

20th Nov 2007 - 00:00
Abstract
Liz Parker, an account manager at Land Registry in Croydon, Surrey, has won the Charlton House Gourmet Challenge 2007.
The 29-year-old from Croydon competed with 49 others in a food-based competition, organised by Land Registry's staff caterers, Charlton House, at London Zoo on Wednesday 7th November. The self-confessed food lover had to answer a quick fire round on food trivia and she had to undergo smell and taste tests before proving herself the champion. She has won a trip to a cookery school in France for two people for three nights. Le Manoir de L'Aufragere is an 18th century manor house set in eight acres of tranquil cider orchards in the heart of Normandy. Nor did the remaining 49 go home empty-handed; each received a top quality chef's knife. Commenting on her success, Liz Parker said: " My boyfriend and I absolutely love cooking and as I have a degree in French, I can't think of a better prize! " Charlton Houses hold staff catering contracts with 24 Land Registry sites nationwide, making it the independent caterer's largest group contract.
