Compass Group wins deal for new Dublin stadium

Abstract
Compass Group has won the contract to supply all of the catering in 'the New Stadium' currently being built at Lansdowne Road, Dublin.
The contract, which is for a 21-year period was awarded following a competitive tendering process. The Compass contract for 'the New Stadium' incorporates catering across the hospitality boxes, restaurants and retail outlets. It is also for non match day conference and banqueting functions. Speaking on behalf of Compass, Gaétan de L'Hermite, managing director of Compass Group Ireland, said: "The New Stadium' is an exciting opportunity for us to further develop our sports and leisure business in Ireland by drawing on the world class expertise developed by our UK counterparts." Philip Browne, of Lansdowne Road Stadium Development Company, added: "Compass Group is an ideal choice of catering partner for us at 'the New Stadium'. It is the largest and most successful catering company in this area, so is best equipped to deliver for all our various visitors to this new stadium. "Our decision to appoint them was influenced by the local knowledge and experience of the Dublin-based Compass team. We are confident that this long-term partnership will be just that – a winning partnership for both parties." The catering and hospitality offer at the new stadium will include 35 corporate hospitality boxes, three restaurants and 57 food and drink outlets on six levels on match days. On non-match days, the onsite team will invite conference and banqueting business to use the newly-built stadium Work on the 50,000 seater New Stadium began in May 2007. 'The New Stadium' is fully on schedule for a completion date of April 2010, and will be the home of both the Irish rugby and soccer teams. Compass currently provides similar services at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, Twickenham Stadium in Middlesex and the O2 Arena in London. The caterer has also most recently added Leopardstown Racecourse to its growing portfolio in Ireland.
