Abstract
Compass Group UK and Ireland, the food and support services firm, has launched a new guide to inform and support employees expecting or adopting a child or returning from maternity, adoption or shared parental leave.

The ‘Maternity, Adoption and Shared Parental Leave Pack’ aims to help employees and their managers while they prepare to take leave, during leave, and to ensure a smooth return to work.

Fiona Ryland, human resources director at Compass Group UK and Ireland, said: “People are at the heart of our business and we work hard to help our colleagues maximise their potential. Part of this is ensuring we provide the necessary guidance and tools to help our colleagues.

“We realise that it can be an exciting but stressful time for expecting parents or those about to go on adoption leave, however these packs set out guidelines to help explain our processes to colleagues and their managers. We hope this will ensure everyone is well equipped and supported every step of the way.”

The guide from the group, who employs approximately 60,000 people, comes after the launch of its ‘women in food’ initiative last year, which aims to support women in the industry and included a pledge to continue its support for employees juggling family life and work.
