Abstract
Industry-leading Chefs have raised £32,000 for Hospitality Action, the trade charity for the hospitality industry, at Europe’s gastronomic event Obsession.

The money was raised at the Obsession event at Northcote hotel, Lancashire, which saw 22 chefs, including John Williams of The Ritz and James Close of The Raby Hunt Inn and Restaurant, Darlington deliver menus across 17 consecutive nights.

Penny Moore, chief executive of Hospitality Action, said: “This year’s fantastic donation is an enormous help towards the ambitious target we set ourselves as we celebrate our 180th year.

“With plans to reach £1.8 million by the end of 2017, events such as this are an incredible boost.”

A silent auction held at the event also contributed towards the total amount raised.

Nigel Haworth, patron of Hospitality Action and chief proprietor of Northcote, said: “I’m over the moon we’ve managed to raise so much money for such a worthwhile cause.

“Obsession is a celebration of the best talent our industry has to offer and as much as it’s important to celebrate the great work going on across the industry, it’s equally important to recognise the issues many are facing every day.”

The money raised will go towards offering assistance to those working, or have previously worked, in the hospitality industry.
