Abstract
Global foodservice company Compass Group has announced the resignation of Johnny Thomson from the role of group finance director.
The catering company is planning to begin the hunt for a new candidate with immediate effect.

Compass Group chairman Paul Walsh said: “We are very grateful to Johnny for his significant contribution to Compass over the last nine years and wish him all the very best for the future.”

Thomson was promoted to the role in September 2015 to succeed Dominic Blakemore, who was promoted to the role of chief operating officer for Compass Group’s European division. He is also the executive director of the board.

Prior to this role, Thomson worked as the regional managing director of the group’s Latin American sector.

Compass Group chief executive officer Dominic Blakemore said: “Johnny has played a critical role in Compass’ success, both managing regions of our group and as group finance director, and he leaves the business in strong financial health. I wish Johnny well and thank him for his contribution to the business.”

The caterer and support services company currently operates in around 50 countries, serving over 5.5 billion meals annually.

This month, Anne-Francoise Nesmes joined Compass Group as a non-executive director, while chef David Simms assumed the role of culinary director of Restaurant Associates and Levy Leisure last month.

The company generated an annual revenue of £22.6bn last year to 30 September 2017.
