Abstract
National independent contract catering company, Catering Academy, has won a five year contract worth £2.25 million with Waterhead Academy.

Following the merger of two local schools, Waterhead Academy’s£26m main campus provides 1,450 students, aged 11-16 years, with a modern learning environment.

Catering Academy impressed the team at Waterhead Academy with its culture and ethos in a competitive tender process, demonstrating an understanding of the school’s requirements, encompassing the correct balance of great quality food, service and value for money.

Since winning the contract, Team Academy has worked closely withthe school in order to meet the needs of its diverse ethnic student population. As a result, both a halal and non-halal food offering is provided from a specially designed kitchen on site.

Furthermore, Catering Academy has worked in partnership with the school to encourage a positive work ethic by opening the exclusive ‘Old Mill’ private dining restaurant for pupils who have achieved outstanding results.

Louise Wymer, founder director at Catering Academy, said: “Catering Academy’s ethos of delivering fresh and nutritional food aligns perfectly with that of Waterhead Academy’s, which enables us to fulfil our commitment to providing healthy school meals that can really make a difference to young people’s educational development.”
