Caterer Compass Group reveals fundraising target for Cancer Research UK

13th Jan 2010 - 00:00
Abstract
Compass Group UK & Ireland has announced its 2010 fundraising target of £300,000 for the Cancer Research UK charity.
Since launching the two year partnership in January 2009 with the Directors' Challenge, which raised £78,000 in just one month, employees have worked in all manner of ways to raise funds including: competing in 3.5, 5 and 10km races; running half and full marathons; sponsored sky diving; trekking across the Alps and through England and Wales and hosting cricket and golf days for clients. All of the money raised by Compass will go directly towards Cancer Research UK's lifesaving work, which is finding new ways to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer. Paul Farthing, director of High Value Relationships at Cancer Research UK, said: "This first year has been an amazing success, and we're delighted with how the partnership has developed. "Right from the start, everyone at Compass has been passionate about helping us beat cancer and thrown themselves into all manner of fundraising challenges. Exceeding their fundraising target is a fantastic achievement, and the money they've raised will help make a real difference. Our thanks to everyone at Compass for achieving this great result." Allan Edwards, corporate affairs and corporate responsibility director, Compass Group UK & Ireland, added: "Every part of the business was involved in smashing our target, from our catering, cleaning, and portering teams in hospitals and workplaces, to the Sales, Purchasing and Marketing departments in our head offices. "The fantastic, united effort in 2009 means we have been even more ambitious with our 2010 target and we are determined to meet this goal again to support a truly worthwhile cause." Last year the group banked £267,562 for the charity.
