Caterer Charlton House introduces Red Tractor to its menus

8th Nov 2010 - 00:00
Abstract
Independent staff caterer Charlton House has launched a series of menus with Red Tractor approved products across its 80 staff restaurants nationwide under the Assured food Standards Scheme.
The Red Tractor gives reassurance to the customer that what they are eating is whole chain British. Penny Beauchamp, trade marketing manager for the Assured Food Standards scheme, said: "This has been the most extensive certification we have undertaken to date within the food service sector and it's great to see such commitment and determination." Caroline Fry, managing director of Charlton House, added: "We have been working closely with AFS to show that a multi-site business like us can include Red Tractor-approved products across a diverse range of food including meat, fruit & vegetables and dairy products. This has only been possible by working with a number of our core suppliers, who in turn have gained RT certification. "It has been a big and very worthwhile investment. We believe the Assured Food Standards scheme is particularly relevant and appropriate to our business as it covers all aspects of the supply chain, from farm to fork. It enables us to adopt a holistic approach, covering food safety and hygiene, animal welfare, health and environmental protection."
