Caterer Charlton House introduces healthy snacking range to staff restaurants

16th Nov 2010 - 00:00
Abstract
Caterer Charlton House has introduced a new healthy snacking range called 'Portions' throughout its staff restaurants nationwide.
Each pack serves around 100 calories and they come in a range of nuts, pretzels, dried fruits and crisps. The objective is to offer customers a treat without overdoing salt, calories, fat or sugar intake. Inovate Health is the company behind the portions range which is now being stocked throughout Lloyds Pharmacies nationwide. Franco Beer, chief executive of Inovate Health, said: "Charlton House is the first within the food service industry to stock Portions, a real reflection of the company's commitment to looking after their customers' health and waistlines! "We all know that portion sizes have increased over the last decade and when it comes to impulse snacking, the problem is that once a packet has been opened, we all eat whatever's there. Whether it's a 50g bag of nuts or a 100g, once opened, the pack gets polished off. "While the former has around 270 calories, the latter is well over 550. This way, when Charlton House customers want to treat themselves to a snack between meals, it's already portion-controlled."
