Abstract
A partnership between Brakes and waste management company ACM Environmental PLC has been recognised at the National Recycling Awards.

Grocery and fresh food supplier Brakes won the Business Partnership of the Year Award for its work with ACM, which provides the supplier with a fully managed, complete, single source, waste and recycling solution for their 56 sites across the country.

Steve Webster, indirect goods & services manager at Brakes, said: “We have been working in partnership with ACM Environmental for a number of years and together have ensured we reach our optimum environmental performance.

“ACM have a unique business model supported by a nationally-integrated network of recycling and reprocessing facilities that enable Brakes to minimise the amount of waste we produce, optimise recycling levels, eliminate the use of landfill whilst reducing our impact on the environment whilst significantly reducing our costs.

"ACM’s state of the art Environmental Services Portal (ESP) is invaluable in helping us manage compliance and end point disposal as well as monitoring our environmental statistics and carbon calculator across all our sites.”

The win comes as Brakes successfully undertook a stringent audit to be certified to the new ISO14001 standard for environmental standards.
