Abstract
The Gloucestershire County Council has announced that pupils are being invited to enter a 'Can U Big It Up' competition as part of The School Food Trust's scheme to promote healthy meals and increase school meal uptake in secondary schools.
Each poster must hit the objective of encouraging more children to have a healthy school dinner, get the message across why healthy school meals are good for you, and must appeal to the target market. In addition, posters must create use of images, must be aimed at the correct target market, and the headline must be engaging. The posters will be judged by a top London advertising agency and the winning entry will be available for display in school canteens all over the country. The winning pupil will also have the opportunity to suggest how the £5,000 of prize money is spent on their canteen. Cllr Joan Nash, lead cabinet member for schools, said: "Meals in secondary schools have been transformed over the last two years and we want to encourage pupils to eat them. What better way than using the talents of Year 7 pupils to come up with creative ideas?" "It would be very exciting if the winner came from a Gloucestershire school as the posters would be displayed in school dining halls and canteens all over the country."
