BaxterStorey throws world record-breaking tea party
Abstract
BaxterStorey staff at Nationwide House in Swindon have helped to smash the world record for hosting the largest cream tea party.

The event saw 691 people enjoy a cream tea party, beating the previous world record of 537, which was set in Australia.

The world record attempt was part of a charity drive at Nationwide which raised £150,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support, as part of the charity’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning celebrations on 25th September.

BaxterStorey’s hospitality and events manager at Nationwide’s Swindon sites, David Geddes, along with 26 other BaxterStorey staff, played an integral role in ensuring the hundreds of tea party-goers were served.

Christian Pauritsch, BaxterStorey’s South West operations director, said: “This really was a fantastic performance and showed our ability to work brilliantly together as one team for one shared goal.”

He added: “Our team’s professionalism, positivity, collaboration and good humour contributed to a fantastic event - the event has attracted overwhelming praise, put a smile on so many faces and raised thousands of pounds for a very worthy cause.”

Bryce Glover, divisional director of corporate affairs at Nationwide, said: “We’re delighted to be crowned record-breakers. It is a fantastic example of Nationwide working together with its employees, members, suppliers and the local community to make a difference.”

Catherine Morton, senior partnership manager at Macmillan Cancer Support, said: “Breaking a world record and raising over £150,000 is a fantastic way to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of Macmillan’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning in a unique way and proves cake really does taste better together.”
