Abstract
Hospitality provider BaxterStorey has been praised for its healthy eating initiatives, as client Centrica took home a number of Healthy Eating Awards.

Providing its catering services to energy firm Centrica, BaxterStorey increased its use of fruit, vegetables and wholegrain carbohydrates while reducing saturated fat, sugar and salt to offer customers healthier options.

It also introduced its ‘Healthy Me’ concept across venues – incorporating more plant-based protein, providing nutritional information and healthier snack choices – to provide a greater choice of “wholesome, balanced and nutritious” food choices in line with new government guidelines.

Awarded numerous Healthy Eating accolades, BaxterStorey was praised for its innovation in menu creation which saw Centrica’s England sites achieve Gold accreditation for the Eat Out Eat Well Award from Trading Standards.

Other awards include:

  • Sites in Scotland achieved the Healthy Living Award from NHS Scotland
  • Centrica’s Cardiff site was awarded gold for the Healthy Options award
  • Bord Gais (Dublin) received a bronze Happy Heart at Work award from the Irish Heart Foundation

Rosie Cadogan, BaxterStorey nutritionist for Centrica, said: “Healthy food is essential to a productive workplace and providing staff with these options is becoming increasingly important to our clients.

“Healthy eating is about education and choice, which is exactly what our ‘Healthy Me’ initiative is all about.

“Achieving the ‘Eat Out, Eat Well’ award is a great recognition of how we are making healthy eating more accessible and exciting. From guidance on nutrition and healthy food swaps to recipes to try at home, our chef development team’s work hard to ensure our food is fresh, seasonal, of good provenance and interesting to keep customers engaged.”
