Autogrill airport fined £10,000

3rd Jan 2008 - 00:00
Abstract
The Jersey competition Regulatory Authority (JCRA) has fined Autogrill £10,000 for failing to comply with the competition laws.
Autogrill bought food firm Alpha in September, but did not inform the JCRA until a month later. This is the first time JCRA has issued a fine under the Law. Under Jersey's Competition Law, infringements are punishable by fines of up to 10% of a company's turnover during the period of violation. Chuck Webb commented: "The amount of the fine is specific to this case and does not control the JCRA's discretion over future matters." Autogrill must pay the penalty by 15 March. The Italian company refuses to comment.
