Abstract
The hospitality association network, Arena, is set to host the Arena Summer Event: ‘Securing Success through People’ in London on the 13th of July. The data and research consultancy CGA, and Britvic Soft Drinks will hold presentations to give an insight into the industry.

The event will be held at London’s Stationers’ Hall and will focus on three key issues the hospitality industry faces. These include an assessment of market confidence, the impact of the sugar levy and key challenges ahead for those in the industry.

Client Director at CGA, Fiona Speakman will report on the issue of market confidence within the industry. Director of Arena, Lorraine Wood said: “The eating and drinking out market has never been more exciting for consumers. However, faced with all this choice there is a real challenge for operators to continue to meet expectations.”

The CGA director will provide an update on the state of the out-of-home market, highlighting the key trends across supply and demand. Fiona will address the state of confidence amongst industry leaders, and the likely impact of legislation in relation to sugar tax and rising costs. The presentation aims to steer suppliers and operators in the right direction in order to be sustainable in the industry.

Head of Foodservice at Britvic, Keith Fenton will assess the impact of the soft drinks levy since its introduction on the 6th of April. At a foodservice level he will draw on on the latest market insights and consider how the changing consumer buying behaviours will impact the soft drinks market. Suppliers can benefit from how ranges and categories can be shaped post-levy to respond to these buying habits.

The event will also host a panel of speakers from the hospitality industry. They will discuss how to attract, develop and retain key people to increase a business’s success.

The line-up includes Stephanie Hamilton, Head of People & Culture, ISS UK & Ireland, Chris Hill, Chief Executive, New World Trading Company, Jonathan Raggett, Managing Director, Red Carnation Hotels, Hazel Detsiny, Managing Director, Unilever Food Solutions and Tevin Tobun, Managing Director, Gate Ventures.
